Dionysios Grammenos

The Eurovision Competition for young musicians found place this week in Vienna. Among the participants a Greek clarinet player. Dionysios Grammenos his name, and he played yesterday evening (9.5.) at the final. In his program, Francaix's clarinet concerto, the 4th movement, accompanied from the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. And he did win this competition. Yes, Mr. Grammenos won the first prize, this is the first time in the history of this competition that a Greek participant wins it. He comes from Corfu and studies with the Greek clarinetist -and one of the greatest of his generation in Europe- Spyros Mourikis. Second prize went to the Finnish pianist Roope Gröndahl.
